Snoop Dogg to Tour India in January 2013

After being discovered by Dr. Dre way back in 1992, and after contributing (significantly) to the doctor’s debut album The Chronic and the single ‘Deep Cover’ (from the soundtrack of the movie Deep Cover), the spotlight Snoop enjoyed then almost guaranteed the success of his own debut release Doggystyle. After signing to Suge Knight and Dre’s Death Row Records, Doggystyle was released in 1993 and was an instant hit. The Chronic and Doggystyle went on to become platinum-selling records that birthed the world-dominating West coast G-Funk sound when most hip-hop music given serious listening and consideration only came from the East coast (and at a time when people actually bought physical copies of music). The original ‘D-O-double G’ went on to make almost a dozen more albums, and his profile in the hip-hop world skyrocketed.

Recently, Snoop Dogg was rechristened ‘Snoop Lion’ by a Rastafarian priest, and released a reggae single, ‘La La La‘, off his upcoming reggae album Reincarnated. Some people think that doesn’t make sense. Well, said people obviously don’t smoke enough weed.
This tweet, straight from the man himself, has gotten fans a little titillated over the last few hours
